About the Tutor
Hello! My name is Helen Batiste Sheppard, and I am a dedicated educator with over 28 years of experience serving students across elementary, middle, and high school levels. I currently teach 4th Grade English Language Arts and Reading and serve as a 4th Grade Team Lead in Cypress-Fairbanks ISD.
I hold a Master of Education in Educational Administration and Supervision from Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, I am certified in multiple states, including Texas (EC–6 Core Subjects and Family & Consumer Sciences), Louisiana (Level 3), and Georgia (Level 5). My certifications also include Instructional Coach, Teacher Leader, and Elementary Education (Grades 1–5).
Throughout my career, I have taught 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades, as well as middle and high school courses in Family and Consumer Sciences, Science, Math, and Social Studies. I have also served in leadership roles such as Grade Level Chair, Team Leader, School Improvement Team Leader, and ProStart Instructor. These experiences allow me to understand curriculum expectations, student needs, and effective instructional strategies at multiple levels.
My tutoring approach is supportive, structured, and personalized. I believe every child can succeed when instruction is tailored to their learning style and academic goals. I strive to build confidence, strengthen foundational skills, and help students develop a positive attitude toward learning.
Outside of education, I enjoy cooking, traveling, and community service. I am also a proud mother of two.
I look forward to partnering with families to support their child’s academic growth through engaging and effective online tutoring sessions.
